The ATRA Board of Directors officially announced the ATRA Recreational Therapy Medicare Project in March 2004. This initiative is solely dependent upon the ATRA membership to combine our total efforts to seek federal recognition of recreational therapy services.

ILRTA supports ATRA’s efforts with the Medicare Project. ATRA has had a longstanding objective to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries have broad access to recreational therapy services. The Medicare Project’s focus is to implement a grassroots-based legislative strategy designed to persuade Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to take appropriate action to clarify that recreational therapy services are covered benefits in several inpatient care settings.

Your efforts are absolutely critical to the success of the Medicare Project. Please visit the ATRA Medicare Project at http://www.atra-tr.org/actionalert.htm to learn more about the Medicare Project and to see how your direct help and involvement is critical to this initiative.
