What is a Recreational Therapist?
Recreational therapists use recreational therapy interventions for improved functioning of individuals with illness or disabling conditions. A qualified recreational therapist is someone who is nationally certified as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), usually referred to as Recreational Therapists. Qualified professionals are certified through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
The ILRTA is preparing a resource of CTRS eligible internship sites. The intent is to place this information on the ILRTA website for students and professionals planning internships. If your agency offers CTRS eligible internships, please take the 3-5 minutes to fill out this quick survey.
